FAVOURITE backers were disappointed when only two won on a seven-race card at the Albrighton Woodland Hunt's point-to-point at Chaddesley Corbett on Bank Holiday Monday.

Romsley trainer Wendy Bayliss, joint owner Sue Jordan and jockey Emma James combined to take the Members race for the second year running when their Sorrento King scored an emphatic win.

The eight-year-old contracted a virus earlier this season and the recovery process has taken a long time.

After months of frustration, three weeks ago connections decided to aim the horse at the Members and it was a decision that paid dividends.

Alan Phillips has made the transition from winning rider to successful trainer after the 5-4 favourite Montys Tan scored a well-deserved victory in Division I of the Maiden. The six-year-old just lost out to Lost in the Snow on his last visit to Chaddesley, but gained compensation with a hard fought win over Euro Craft.

Phillips is based at Callow End, near Worcester and has started off his training career with a small team of horses but hopes to expand next year.
