DURING March, members took part in three walks, including a nine-mile hike around the Henley-in-Arden area an orienteering walk in the Lickey Hills, supervised by an official from the countryside centre, and a nine-mile walk around the Ashby de la Zouch Castle area.

At the beginning of April, members visited the National Arboretum for a memorial service and walk in memory of Brian Todd, a former member of the group.

The second walk of the month was the first stage of the Three Choirs Way from Gloucester to Cugley - about 35 members took part in this long-distance walk, led by Sean and Helen, on a fine spring day.

On April 24, members were taken on a short tour of Birmingham to view The Green Men in situ. This followed on from an interesting talk by Tony Hayward on the previous Thursday.

The social programme kicked off with an entertaining quiz and country dance evening organised by

This was followed in the middle of March by an informative talk by Michael Bird from the Ramblers Association, explaining aspects of the Right to Roam Act.

On April 28, members visited the Roman Museum at Alcester.

This was followed by a short walk out of Alcester to view the former site of one of the two Roman forts in the town.

The future programme includes the next two stages of the Three Choirs Way.

The beginning of June sees the Warwickshire County Walks Festival.
