ON Sunday, May 8 we celebrated the 60th anniversary of the end of the Second World War in Europe.
I would consider this to be a very important day and I assumed it would be treated as such.
On VE Day in 1945, Alcester was awash with red, white and blue, union flags, bunting and street parties.
And I was looking forward to walking around the town on this Sunday with my camera to see a similar occasion.
Unfortunately, this was not the case and I only counted three flags in the town.
Perhaps if the English football or rugby teams were playing, I might have seen more.
It was a shame such an important moment in our history went totally unnoticed by the majority of the town.
I understand the official celebrations take place in July. Perhaps we can make up for it then.
