ALVECHURCH went into the weekend without a win to their name in Division One but back-to-back victories made it a Bank Holiday to remember.

Church returned from Droitwich Spa with an emphatic six-wicket win, Martin Hayward helping them to the points with a useful knock of 81.

The home side reached 186-7 before Alvechurch claimed the victory with their 187-4.

Monday saw them cruise to victory over visitors Eastnor, the Herefordshire side falling short by 140 runs.

Nick Jones (71) and John Rose (64) were the mainstays of the Church innings and their total of 227-9 proved too tough for the visitors who were all out for 87.

Division One rivals Astwood Bank were up against Eastnor on Saturday but had to be content with a winning draw.

The Bank reached 189-9 from their overs but Eastnor held out and finished their innings on 154-9.

Two days later, Alex Robinson struck 45 but their 136 all out was not enough to trouble Stourbridge who had reached 203.

In Division Three, Feckenham had to be content with a losing draw from their meeting with Stourport.

The visitors were 235 all out and despite an unbeaten 112 from Andy Kings, Feckenham had to hold on, scoring 200-9 at the end of their overs.

Ian Williams was the star turn for Hewell as they romped to a nine-wicket win against West Malvern.

Williams hit an unbeaten 47 to steer his side home after Malvern had been dismissed for 80.
