A MAJOR local employer is looking for townsfolk to help its workforce bloom thanks to an an extra 28 jobs.

Webbs of Wychbold garden centre, in Worcester Road, will take on the extra staff and increase its number of employees to more than 300.

The vacancies at the award-winning garden centre are ongoing permanent positions mainly in the areas of customer service such as working on the tills, in the car park and catering.

Webbs has a reputation around Worcestershire for treating its staff very well.

Managing director Ed Webb said: "We are a family-owned firm who look after our workforce. High standards of customer care are at the core of our business and we are looking to recruit people who will enjoy dealing with our visitors - over a million last year."

He added: "We particularly welcome mature applicants and have a variety of jobs available at different times of the day, including early evenings and weekends."

The extra jobs should help the local economy, which received a knock after the mass lay-offs at MG Rover.

Mr Webb said: "We have already contacted the MG Rover redundancy team to let them know the jobs are available and we are hoping to fill the positions as soon as possible."
