Come on all you ex-MG Rover employees - don't let the likes of Chris Stephens and his small-minded cronies get away with writing comments such as those published last week - let's put the record straight for a few of the people out there. With regards to the Council Tax being deferred - yes it is if you want to take up the offer of having your Council Tax put on hold until August, but then you have to pay the whole lot back in one sum whether you have found employment or not!

Yes, there are jobs out there to be had, but offering a wage of approximately £5an hour! And wages in general have been dropped because employers know that there are so many people now looking for work.

You were right Mr Stephens - MG Rover employees were being paid a good wage and, as such, have adapted their lifestyles accordingly, ie holidays, buying the food they like rather than what they can afford, making sure their children don't go without, giving to school funds and buying houses according to their wages.

So not only have these people lost their jobs, but their lifestyles and, quite possibly, the homes they've spent a long time working for.

Would you still be able to afford your home on The Oakalls and your lifestyle if you were in the same situation?

We are now claiming the normal benefits plus free school meals, grants for school clothing etc, but my husband would much rather be at work.

With regards to the JOBSFAIR, they were recruiting staff to relocate to Reading, Oxford, Hastings and even as far afield as Australia and New Zealand. How that is supposed to help the economy of the area I do not know.

My husband is not "sitting there" waiting for jobs, and neither are a lot of ex-employees. While my husband was attending a computer course he has enrolled upon, he overheard another ex-employee stating that he had sent out 60 CVs, but had not even had one reply.

Where is your compassion Mr Stephens? Think about the emotional trauma these people must be going through?
