ALVECHURCH County Councillor George Lord has been re-elected as leader of the authority. The Conservative councillor was elected unopposed at the county's annual meeting on Thursday. Councillor Lord said: "It's obviously an honour to be asked to lead this council, although the achievements of the last four years have only been possible with the help of all the political groups."
He will chair a seven-strong cabinet after the authority's new political structures were also backed by councillors on Thursday. All seven members in the cabinet are Conservatives, including Redditch South County Councillor Philip Gretton, who takes on the portfolio for adult and community services.
