A BROTHER and sister duo from Wyre Forest, who are both members of Droitwich Fencing Club, have enjoyed success already this year.
Ashley Newton, 11, who attends Sion Hill School, won the Under-12 boys section at the Birmingham schools event in March.
On May 1, he was first in the Droitwich team for Under-14s in the Birmingham Schools event which beat Arden, Warwick, Haybridge and Bromsgrove.
On May 8, Newton, who has twice been a recipient of a Ray Mercer Sports Award, came second in the Birmingham Schools Under-12 boys event.
His sister, Amber, eight, a pupil of Blakedown Primary School, came sixth in the Under-12 girls Birmingham Schools event, but on May 14 she won the Under-nine girls Leon Paul competition at Wrexham.
