CYCLING: Ollie Braithwaite took the honours in the latest Redditch Road & Path evening time trial.
Braithwaite completed the 14.8-mile course through Cookhill, Flyford and Weethly in a creditable 35.32mins, battling against the very windy conditions. Mike Hopkins finished second in a time of 35.45 with youngster Ollie Graham third in 37.24. The top six were completed by Brian Austin (37.39), Paul Graham (39.49) and Dave Brearley (40.15).
But the star of the evening was juvenile Tom Cundy who managed to complete the course in an impressive 51.16.
Austin also produced an excellent ride in the Frank Tidmarsh Memorial Road Race around Bridgnorth. He was part of the decisive break towards the finish before easing clear along with eventual winner P Mason. Austin finished second some 26secs in arrears.
