THE concerns of residents in St John's about the problem of drunks hanging around the riverside causing a nuisance will be addressed, says the deputy leader of the city council.

St Clement's ward representative Coun Simon Geraghty said Coun Ian Imray was in the process of setting up a meeting with the police and community safety team to push for a drinking ban to be implemented for the Hylton Road area. The Worcester News revealed on Tuesday, May 24, that around half a dozen men spend hours sitting on the benches near to the Sabrina Bridge drinking and then throwing empty bottles and cans down the riverbank and on the path.

"It's been an issue that we are trying to raise. It hasn't been forgotten. People can be reassured that something is happening," said Coun Geraghty. Residents of Hylton Road have told the Worcester News that while the men are not doing anything illegal or harassing people they would support moves to make the area a no alcohol zone.
