BARNARDS Green seconds travelled to the picturesque cricket ground sited in the shadow of Hagley Hall for this Worcestershire County League division two second XIs game.

HAGLEY II v BARNARDS GREEN II

Once again skipper Phil Spencer won the toss, with the clouds giving signs of more than the light showers forecast, Hagley were invited to take first knock on what turned out to be a slow, but true wicket.

The normally economical opening bowlers for the Green were struggling, anything short was dispatched to the boundary by the experienced Crane, who in partnership with Treadwell had added 67 runs by the end of the 10th over.

This was the signal for a change of pace, Lewis Hooper's off-spin had the desired effect, his 11 overs cost only 30 runs also taking four priceless wickets, with the help of Liam Paddock 2-25 and young Tom Clack 1-20, the Green reduced the home side to 163 all out.

Only Crane (77) and Treadwell (31) making any worthwhile scores.

Set 164 to win off 39 overs due to rain interruptions, it was important the Green made a good start. Judd Doughty and Jon Lewis provided the start required amassing 89 for the first wicket before Lewis was given out lbw for a solid 37.

Doughty followed in the next over for 43, continuing his gradual return to form. This left Liam Paddock and second team debutant Jason Brewer to steer the Green towards Hagley's total.

The pair had taken the score calmly along to 133 before Brewer was stumped for 17, this left the teenage pairing of Liam Paddock and Lewis Hooper to ease past the Hagley total with seven wickets in hand.

Paddock finished the innings with a chanceless 46no.

Another 20 points gained by a the Green's young side.
