A PLAN to refurbish shop units in Belle Vue Terrace, Malvern, and convert the space above into two-bedroom apartments has been submitted to the district council.

Severn Office Systems and Forget Me Not flower shop are currently based in the building.

Plans for the space above the shops show mews-style apartments with balconies and views over Great Malvern, with access at the rear.

Owner Geoff Tipping said: "The building is coming to the end of its life and needs work."

Mr Tipping said the four apartments would be available to rent and the refurbished units leased to businesses, as at present.

He said if planning approval was granted, building work would not start before the end of 2006.

David Robertson, of Severn Office Systems, based in Belle Vue Terrace for 20 years, said the building's redevelopment could have a big impact on the business.

He said he might have to look for new premises if the planning application was approved.
