A few years ago, a group of like-minded individuals raised a petition to keep the football pitch on Peachfield Common free of dog mess.
After much pressure, a notice went up. Sadly, the dog owners who drive to that car park still don't care and the dogs still can't read!
The Conservators now have full legal powers to create dog-free zones.
How about an area below the pitch down to the railway, for dogs, with the car park at the bottom. From the pitch and above - dog-free. Everyone's happy.
If you want the freedom of the Hills and Commons, be a responsible dog owner, or leave the animals at home.
It will take time to re-educate, but like the various bans on smoking it can be done.
