The church fete takes place tomorrow (Saturday), at noon, in and round Powick Parish Hall. There will be the usual attractions, plus refreshments, with proceeds going to the restoration of the floor and organ at St Peter's Church, Powick.

Rev David Nichol will be taking his final service as the vicar in the benefice on Sunday, June 12, at 10.30 am, at St Peter's Church. This will be for all the benefice (including St James, Callow End and the churches of Madresfield and Guarlford). This farewell service will give David Nichol, his wife Lynn, and their children Catherine and Thomas, the opportunity to say goodbye and thank you to everyone who has been part of the church community during his time in the parishes. David Nichol will be instituted into the Church of Holy Trinity (with St James, West Malvern) on July 4.

St Peter's churchyard has been entered into the Best Kept Churchyard Competition for 2005. Organised by the Worcestershire Federation of Women's Institutes and the Campaign to Protect Rural England, judging will take place between June 1 and August 10. The Judges will consider ease of access, pathways, grassland, the state of hedges and boundaries, notice boards and memorials. They will be looking for a well-kept, well-loved place with a balance between tidiness and the provision of natural habitats.

Don't forget to boogie tomorrow night (Saturday), in the parish hall, to The Fabulous Boogie Boys at 8pm.

Come to the Gardener's Question Time with BBC Hereford and Worcester's own guru, Reg Moule, on Wednesday, June 15, at 7.30pm, in Powick Parish Hall. Tickets are £5, including refreshments, from churchwarden Paul Higgins on 01905 840786. Proceeds will go to Powick Church Restoration.
