KEEP the whole family entertained over the Bank holiday weekend and half-term with our comprehensive guide to what's going on across the county.

There will be something for everyone, from finding fairies on a riverside discovery trail to watching mermaids and mariners float by in a seaside carnival.

The wide variety of activities and events on offer are guaranteed to put a stop to boredom and stop children driving their parents to distraction.

There will be lots for adults too, with an asparagus auction, street market and flea and collectors fair.

SATURDAY

Treasures, cakes and asparagus will be some of the bargains for sale at the Little Comberton Street Market, Little Comberton, near Pershore.

Heroes of the Home Front will be remembered at the Greyfriars and Tudor House, Friar Street, Worcester.

A choral concert will take place at Pershore Abbey at 7.30pm to raise funds for MacMillan Cancer Relief.

SUNDAY AND MONDAY

The annual Steam and Woodland Fair returns to Eastnor Castle, near Ledbury on Sunday and Monday.

Children can test their strength in a tug of war with a steam engine.

The event, priced at £7 for adults, £6 for senior citizens, £4 for children and £18 for family tickets will take place between 10.30am and 5pm.

Bid for asparagus at The Fleece Inn, Bretforton, near Evesham on Sunday.

Morris dancers will also perform at the pub in The Cross at 6.30pm, followed by music from the Bretforton Silver Band at 7pm and the auction at 7.30pm.

The Bell Inn Brass Band will be at Cripplegate Park, Worcester on Sunday between 2.30pm and 4.30pm.

A Flea and Collectors Fair will take place at the Three Counties Showground in Malvern on Monday.

Entry for the event, between 9am and 4pm will be £2.50 per person, accompanied children under 16 can enter for free.

Pershore will be transformed into Pershore-on-sea with Monday's carnival.

Mermaids and mariners will parade through the streets at 1pm with two brass bands and a steam engine.

The parade will end in Abbey Park, with stalls, games, a dog show and classic cars.

The Asparagus Farmers Market will take place on Monday in Pershore's Broad Street between 10am and 3pm.

HALF-TERM

Rare African white lions can be seen at the West Midland Safari Park in Bewdley.

The park is open from 10am daily.

Entry is £7.99 per person, children under four can go for free.

The rides are extra, with multi-ride bands priced at £8.75 and individual tickets at £1.50 each.

Face painting, balloon magic and a free riverside discovery trail, with fairies, Spike the scarecrow and goody bags will be at Webbs of Wychbold garden centre, near Droitwich between Tuesday and Friday.

For the grown-ups there will be the National Potentilla Collection and Wisteria Walk. The trail is open all day, with other activities between 1pm and 4pm.

Try your luck in the Sea Britain Treasure Trail at Croome Park, Severn Stoke near Malvern between Wednesday and Friday.

Admission will be £1.

Medieval medicines will be explored at the Worcester City Art Gallery and Museum in Foregate Street on Friday.

The 10.30am to 12.30pm session will be for five to eight year olds, with 1.30pm to 3.30pm for eight to 12 year olds.
