DEEP beneath the ground in the Dines Green area of Worcester, waiting for discovery by future generations, a time capsule has been buried.

To mark the relaunch of the Tudor Way Children's Centre, formerly the Dines Green Family Care Group, souvenirs from 2005 were put below ground - with a little help from children from the neighbouring primary school.

The nursery's new re-branded building cost £500,000 and is being funded by the SureStart programme which works with parents-to-be and families of young children to break the cycle of disadvantage.

Dines Green residents filled in forms to suggest what the capsule could contain to send a message to the future.

Mary Collins, the SureStart co-ordinator for Dines Green said she was delighted with the response.

"We've had an amazing range of objects and ideas suggested, from nappies to stamps and coins to photos," she said.

Children from Dines Green Primary School drew treasure trove maps to mark out where the capsule should be buried.

Headteacher Steve Gough said the new centre would be a 'massive asset to the local community'.
