A SPA woman is fuming after discovering rubbish strewn all over her garden.

Fay Brandwood, of Dodderhill Road, put her bin bags out on Tuesday morning as directed by a leaflet from Wychavon District Council.

But before the bins could be taken away an animal or possibly magpies, got into them and pulled the rubbish all over her garden.

Fay said she is absolutely furious, as it is the second time this has happened and the bin men refuse to take it away unless it is in its proper place.

Fay said: "We put our rubbish out on the side of the road and then come home to see the garden looking like a landfill site.

"The council basically just said it's our problem. We could either buy a wheelie bin or use the bags. So we are using the bags they left for us but they are clearly not strong enough to stop animals getting in."

She added: "I don't see why we should have to buy wheelie bins when Bromsgrove District Council gives them out for free."

Fay has to leave early for her job as a director of GFI cleaning business, so is not in when the bin men come to ensure the bins are taken away.

Fay said: "Running my own cleaning business the last thing I want to do when I get home from work is cleaning rubbish from the garden."

Waste management officer Mark Edwards said: "If the refuse is spilled before the crews arrive they are not required to take it away. If people want to use a bin they may do so but we ask that the rubbish is placed in sacks inside the bin."

He added the quality of the sacks given out by Wychavon was good and that there were no plans to distribute free wheelie bins.
