A KIND-hearted Spa woman is being honoured in a special ceremony in London next month for her outstanding dedication to St Richard's Hospice.

Eunice Williams is one of just 50 people in the country who will receive the prestigious Order of Mercy medal to celebrate her distinguished and long-standing commitment to the hospice caring for people with cancer in South Worcestershire.

Eunice, who lives in Droitwich, will be presented with her award at the Mansion House, in London, on June 2.

She will be joined at the ceremony by hospice Chairman of Governors, Jeannie Young.

Over the years Eunice has taken on a wide variety of volunteer roles.

Eunice regularly spends time in Day Hospice offering patients encouragement and support and finds time to organise many events to raise funds towards the work of the hospice.

She also drives patients to the hospice and for hospital appointments when needed and accompanies patients to the Droitwich Brine Baths for relaxation sessions.

Eunice said: "I am delighted to be honoured with this award. I really enjoy working with other volunteers and the time I spend at St Richard's, particularly getting to know patients. I think the care and support the hospice gives to patients is outstanding and I am glad to be part of that process along with all the other volunteers who do such fantastic work."
