THE staff quarters of Broadway's Lygon Arms has been the latest target for distraction burglars, who made off with £50 in cash.

The incident last Saturday happened shortly after 5pm when a female member of staff become aware of a man tapping on the window. The man asked if a named male was living on the premises, and was told no.

Shortly afterwards the woman answered a knock on the room of the door from a second male who made a similar inquiry. After hearing a noise in the room she turned to see the first man jump from a window and make off across the car park. A check of the room found that £50 in cash had been stolen.

The man who knocked at the door is described as being in his late teens or early twenties, around 5ft 6in tall with a pale complexion and 'quite distinctive bags' under his eyes.

He was wearing a lime green jacket and an almost identical lime-green baseball cap, with a grey badge on the front.

The suspect, whose appearance was said to be 'tatty', was also wearing blue jeans, a yellow top and possibly a blue t-shirt with white writing.

The other man who escaped across the car park was described as around 5ft 2in tall with black or dark brown hair, with highlights towards the front. He is thought to be aged between 20 to 30, clean-shaven and wearing a dark sweatshirt with white writing.

The incident follows a recent 13 per cent drop in distraction burglaries across the West Mercia force area. Despite the decrease officers have warned residents against complacency and to report suspicious activities.
