WEDDING bells are set to ring for an Evesham couple who found love on an interactive TV channel.

Little did Katie Townsend know that a bored Friday night in front of the set would lead to her finding the man of her dreams.

But within 10 minutes of signing up for Sky's Koopid TV dating service in May 2004, the 22-year-old from Fairfield Road had a message from 24-year-old Richard Rumbold - who is now set to be her husband.

"I was a real sceptic when it came to dating services," said Katie, a men's barber.

"But on the first night Richard - who I only knew as 'the man' for a few days - and I talked for hours."

After three days they were brave enough to talk on the phone and were soon exchanging pictures. But it was when Katie was sent to A&E with breathing problems at the beginning of June that their future was sealed.

"He wanted to come and see me and I was terrified," Katie recalls.

"But he walked round the corner with the biggest bouquet of flowers I'd ever seen and it was love at first sight."

By the end of July Richard had moved from his Hampshire home to live with Katie and her mum and dad. Then on Christmas Day he popped the question.

"We're finding somewhere to live next year and we are getting married in 2007," Katie said. "As the saying goes, you always find love in unexpected places and the TV was certainly one of them!"

Sky viewers can find romance by pressing the Interactive button on their remote control and choosing Sky Active and then Koopid.
