POLICE are seeking information about a suspicious incident in Kidderminster in which a man called at the house of a woman in her 90s.
The woman, who lives in the Worcester Road area, answered the door to the man between 10am and 2pm on Monday, May 9 and he started talking to her about doing tree cutting work.
He did not enter the house, although the front and back doors were unlocked. It was possible someone else slipped in as, since then, she had not been able to find her purse, which contained £20.
A police spokesman said: "At the moment, this is being treated as a suspicious incident, rather than a distraction burglary, as the purse may turn up.
"However, it is a good opportunity to remind householders to be very careful when opening the door to strangers, including people offering to carry out work.
"Often, these people work in pairs and one will slip into the house while the other distracts the victim. Elderly people are particularly vulnerable."
