A MAN who attacked a neighbour with a rounders bat has been jailed for a year at Worcester Crown Court.

David Grasham suspected that Darren Jay had called the police after hearing a domestic row next door, said Stefan Kolodynski, prosecuting.

He called Mr Jay outside and launched into him with the wooden bat, causing injuries to his chest, arm, stomach and thumb.

Grasham, 23, of Arley Close, Foley Park, Kidderminster, pleaded guilty to assault causing actual bodily harm.

He surrendered to police the day after the incident on October 9 last year, saying he had given someone a good hiding.

Elizabeth Muir, defending, said Grasham, the father of a 19-month-old child, had snapped after being under personal stress.

His father was seriously ill in hospital after a fall but Judge Michael Mott said Grasham admitted that he became violent after alcohol.
