WYRE Forest Cycle Racing Cub promoted the latest round of the League of veteran racing cyclists road races on Sunday on a new 40 mile course, over 4 laps from Martley to Lower Broadheath.

There was a strong contingent of home club riders, but after numerous attacks, Markus Walker of Brush Healthcare broke away to win.

Mike Hopkins was the first club rider over the line, finishing in 10th place overall, with Kris Doms 11th, John Callaghan 13th and Dave Wood and Karl Davies further down in the bunch. Davies finished second in his age category and Doms was third in his.

Dave Barnes raced to ninth overall in the Warwikshire CC 10-mile time trail on the Evesham bypass on Saturday on 23 minutes six seconds, Doms finishing in 24-14, Richard Pedersen 24-18 and Callaghan 24-34. Stuart Dangerfield was the overall winner in 20-37.

Dave Wood and Davies battled strong winds in the Ludlow 10-mile time trial, when Wood recorded 23-38 and Davies rode to a new personal best time of 25-16.

Paul Prince won round three of the club competition around the 10-mile Warndon circuit, finishing in 22-51, with John Parker second in 23-56, and Wood third in 23-58. Other times were: Doms 24-29, Gary Bartram 24-46, Callaghan 24-59, Peter Keron 25-51 Davies 26-01, Jonathon Higgins 26-11, James Smith 26-44, Brian Clarke 27-09, James Harrison 27-44, Chris Edmonds 28-35, Mick Gray 29-27, Steve Clews 29-55, Sally Clews 33-25.
