KIDDERMINSTER schoolgirl Aimee Cook made a splash to run away with the Under-13s title in the Worcestershire Independent Schools inaugural Aquathlon in Malvern.
The 13-year-old Holy Trinity pupil came out on top in the biathlon-style event which involved swimming four lengths before changing into running gear to complete an 800m uphill run.
Head of PE Jeanette Thomas praised the youngster who beat off competition from around 70 participants to take the top prize.
"Aimee is an incredibly fit and talented young athlete," she said.
"Taking part in the biathlon was a new experience for all the girls and a fantastic personal achievement for Aimee."
As an increasingly popular sport the biathlon has now been integrated into the school's sports day programme.
