THE organisers of Pershore carnival admitted they were all at sea when it came to choosing a princess for the Bank Holiday Monday event.
Dozens of girls sent in drawings of themselves at the seaside in a bid to lead the procession at the carnival, which will have a nautical theme with the town being re-branded Pershore-on-Sea.
Carnival chairman Dave Shaw said choosing between the entries was an "almost impossible" task.
"The pictures sent in were all wonderful - it was great to see such enthusiasm for the carnival.
"All we need now is great weather to make sure it is a truly memorable day."
The carnival procession, which leaves the Brandy Cask riverside gardens at 1pm, will be led by a steam engine and will feature two marching bands.
Cash prizes are being offered for the best group and individual fancy dress.
Anyone wishing to get involved should arrive at the Brandy before 12.30pm.
The day of events also features Pershore's first asparagus market on Broad Street, an open day at the town's fire station and the classic hits roadshow on Abbey Park.
Other attractions include a dog show, craft fair, stalls, games and fairground rides.
l Other events over the weekend in Pershore include a Street Market in Little Comberton from 2pm until 5pm on Saturday, with stalls, games, competitions and exhibitions. In the evening a concert at Pershore Abbey is planned for 7.30pm in aid of Macmillan Cancer Relief.
