A PHOTOGRAPH of a well-known Cherry Tree will hang above the mantle -piece of an inn in Martley thanks to the Worcester News' chief photographer.
Gillian and Kenneth Green, who run the Admiral Rodney Inn, off Berrow Green, asked the paper's Sarah Jeynes to choose the winner of the competition they ran for their regulars. "We were looking to have a photo of the tree for the mantlepiece so we thought we would hold a competition," said Mrs Green.
"The standard was so high that we needed some professional help."
The 30 year old Cherry Tree, which blossoms each spring for just 10 to 20 days, was one of the factors that led to the couple to take on the inn three years ago after having dining at a table looking out on the tree in full bloom.
Andy Nickless, who is from the neighbouring village of Wichenford, took the winning photograph.
"All the entries were of a high standard but this photograph really stood out," said Sarah.
