BEWDLEY'S fixtures against Romsley and Hunnington were two of umpteen Crusader Worcestershire County League clashes to be affected by rain when it was abandoned because of dreadful weather.

Many matches were rained off before they even had chance to start.

Bewdley's first team won the toss and put their hosts in to bat. S James (30) and P Pickering (61) swung their bats from the start and Tom Baylis and Robert Combes were hit out of the attack.

Jon Boult (3-30) came in to bat and had James lbw for 30 at 84, and Pickering followed shortly afterwards to a disputed boundary catch by Matt Boden, the umpire ruling that the catch was complete before Boden stepped over the boundary.

T Windsor (33) continued the assault before falling to Boden shortly before the rains began, with the score at 160-3 in 31 overs.

The seconds were put into bat by Romsley with Martin Flack the first victim, followed by David Jones (12). Andy Robinson (41) batted stylishly to built a platform for a charge in the last 20 overs, but the weather prevented that and left Bewdley with five points to Romsley's six.
