SUNDAY proved another successful day for Worcester Tri Club's junior members who competed in events in Gloucester and Tewkesbury.

The first was the Tri Team Gloucester's Children's Triathlon when competitors were faced with an indoor swim before cycling various numbers of laps around school playing fields and finishing with a fairly gruelling out and back lapped running course on the same fields.

Racing in the Tristar 1 age category (9/10), Tegan Parsons finished third in a time of 15 minutes and 31 seconds.

Callum Tustin, racing in the massively competitive Tristar 3 category (13/14), finished strongly in seventh place and recorded one of the fastest run splits in his category.

The Senior Tewkesbury Tri Club Sprint Triathlon staged at Cascades and the town's Rugby Club comprised a 400m pool swim, a 22K bike course and 5K run.

Completing in the open category were juniors Dan Keen and Rune Dige and, in only their second senior race, both produced superb performances.

Keen (16) pulled out all the stops to finish second overall in a time of one hour three minutes and three seconds, while 15-year-old Dige finished strongly in fourth position overall (1.04.37).

Their run times were the second and third quickest of the day and, with their bike experience still only in the early stages, their split times of fourth and eighth respectively were also extremely impressive.

Both are now looking forward to representing the West Midlands Youth Academy in the Inter-Regional Aquathon scheduled for Saturday, June 4 in Nottingham.
