THE men from Bromsgrove and Redditch Athletic Club made a strong start in the Midlands Men's Track and Field Championships.
The team, which won promotion to Division Three in 2004, finished third in the first round in Worcester.
The team's success was down to the squad members' willingness to compete in unfamiliar events.
Mike Rudkin also made a massive impact for B&R on his debut, winning the A and B shot put events. James Hart finished second in the triple jump and third in the high jump.
Team coach James Adie lead the team from the front by winning the 1500 metres A race, while teenage prodigy Matt Addison won the B race. Andrew Freeman finished runner-up in the 110m hurdles.
Adie said: "We succeeded because was played like a team. Every member of the squad performed to his or her best to help the team.
"The athletes have been excellent and if we continue that we'll be fine in Division Three."
The men go to Corby for the second round on June 6.
