ENERGETIC Wychavon youngsters showed they were good sports when scooping four first places in last Sunday's Worcestershire Youth Games at Nunnery Wood Sports Complex.
This year saw more than 1000 athletes aged between ten and 16 taking part in athletics, basketball, cricket, girls football, hockey, netball, girls tag rugby, mixed tag rugby and tennis.
The Wychavon youngsters put in a 'gold winning' performance on the day when they won the Under-14 girls football (Droitwich High School), MLD girls football (Vale of Evesham School), U-13 boys hockey (Pershore High and Pinvin St Nicholas School) and U-10 mixed mini tennis (Wychavon Develop-ment Squad).
Three girls from Evesham High School volunteered to help steer a depleted Broms-grove team to victory in the U-14 mixed cricket.
Wychavon DC's sports development officer Mark Williams said: "The Wychavon team have been selected through a range of sources, including schools, inter-school tournaments, development squads and the Active Sports programme.
The event gave the young people of Wychavon the chance to experience the big event atmosphere right on their doorsteps."
