GREEN-fingered townsfolk are being invited to visit a range of Bromsgrove gardens which are opening to the public.

As part of the National Gardens Scheme, the gardens will be available for residents to look around on specific dates.

Burcot Grange, in Greenhill, Burcot, is five acres of mature garden, incorporating water features and an abundance of summer colour. It will be open on July 2 from 2-5pm and admission is £2 with children getting in for free.

Stone Cottage, in Valley Road, Bournheath, is a large organic garden with raised beds, heated greenhouse and frames, fruit trees, flower garden and ornamental pool. There are also herbaceous and shrub borders, water features and a display of lilies arranged in a unique barbecue area. This garden is open on July 16 and 17 from 2-5.30pm and admission is £2.50 with children free.

Marlbrook also boasts a garden at Saranacris, 28A Braces Lane. This is an unusual and steep terraced garden in an old sand quarry. There are pools, streams and mature trees. The patio, roof garden and conservatory are all overflowing with sub-tropical plants. It will be open on June 24 and July 15 from 6-9pm, entrance is £4 including wine and on August 21 from 2-6pm and admission is £2.50 with children free.

In addition the garden will also be opening along with number 24 Braces Lane as part of a combined display on July 24. There are terraces, fishpools, streams and a vegetable garden. Both will open from 2-6pm and combined admission is £4. The National Gardens Scheme raises money for selected charities by opening gardens of quality and interest to the public.
