Maggie welcomed all members to our May meeting, with a special welcome back to Olga, following her lengthy illness. Olga expressed her gratitude for the many cards, flowers and visitors she had received, which had helped to cheer her up on difficult days. Maggie informed everyone that Mary; our past president is making good progress following her operation.

Jan read the minutes of the last meeting. Thanks were expressed to Pat for her comprehensive report on the half-yearly council meeting. Ellen gave a glowing report on a visit to Denman College. She was accompanied by Pauline and both agreed they had thoroughly enjoyed the experience. They had stayed in the 'Worcestershire' room where they were proud to note that on display is a painting by Gwen one of our members. Ellen urged anyone who hasn't been to Denman to give themselves a real treat!

Events to come include: Crack Cancer Coffee Morning hosted by Hilda on June 8 at 10.30am, skittles evening at DD&S Club on June 29 at 7.30pm, walk and supper from New Inn, Bournheath, on July 20 at 6pm, Annual Produce Show in the village hall on August 6 (bottles for tombola to Audrey please!)

Resolutions were presented by Maggie and Pauline. Members discussed at length how best we can support and raise awareness about the plight of dairy farming in our country and reduction of waste materials. The proposals were carried unanimously and will go forward to the Albert Hall.

This months competition for a plate of home-made biscuits was very well supported and of a high standard. The overall winner was Ellen Crawford. All entries were auctioned off by Mo. The next meeting is on June 8 and is the Garden Meeting. Members are to meet at 7.30pm at the village hall before proceeding to Fockbury for our garden visit.
