MATT Johnson was crow-ned junior champion at Chipping Norton after lightning interrupted Sunday's competition.

Sixteen youngsters entered the annual event and it was Johnson who returned the best gross score once officials had been given the all-clear to return to the fairways.

The new champion carded rounds of 71 and 76 to edge out Tom Woolley who was two shots adrift over the 36 holes after rounds of 75 and 74.

The net competition was won for a second successive year by the only girl in the tournament, Claire Reynolds, whose 36-hole total of 143 (76, 67) won on countback from Danny Phillips (71, 74).

Trophies and prizes were presented by the ladies president Audrey Pick.
