BROADWAY golfer Ed Kennedy emulated Ryder Cup star Thomas Bjorn when taking a tournament victory at the Forest of Arden.
The 16-year-old Cheltenham College student won his first national title when winning the Club Champions Cup just two days after the Dane had been crowned British Masters champion on the same Meriden course.
Kennedy, who is a regular member of the Gloucestershire junior squad, was the first junior player to reach the final stage of the event and he won won it a canter after carding a round of 73.
That superb effort that included ten pars and four birdies, left Kennedy eight shots clear of the field and an emphatic winner of the prestigious title.
Kennedy, who lives in Toddington, and won five Daily Telegraph UK junior titles in 2004, is now determined to tackle more open age events. And, on the evidence of his fabulous Forest triumph, his older peers had better watch out!
