I WOULD like to respond to the letter about youngsters still hanging around the streets and playing areas of Catshill through lack of facilities in the area.

I too would like Russ Clayton and Geoff Hulett to tell the residents of Catshill why despite the area having been an 'alcohol free zone' since last November, underage drinking is still happening in the play area and playing field on Lingfield Walk, the evidence can be seen every day with the smashed glass bottles and beer cans.

These youngsters are drinking alcohol freely and openly with no-one in authority stopping them or moving them on - or better still taking them home to their parents.

There is also a lot of drug-taking - again openly going on in this area, some of these children are only 12-years-old. In fact most of these children are not even aware that this area is an 'alcohol-free zone' because there is no sign telling them this where they sit on the bench drinking, the nearest sign is about 300 yards away and not even facing the playing area. Mr Clayton and Mr Hulett, who is responsible for enforcing the alcohol ban and why after six months has no-one in authority taken responsibility? You both claim to have made anti-social behaviour your priority so can the long-suffering residents of Catshill, please see some positive action, not just words? We live in hope.
