Game abandoned because of rain

DROITWICH'S frustrating season in the Worcestershire League Division One went on as torrential rain forced their match against bottom side Brockhampton off on Saturday.BOWLED OVER:Gary Cartwright goes in search of a wicket for Droitwich on Saturday.

Droitwich had been hoping to bounce back from last week's defeat at the hands of Ombersley, but they bad weather never gave them a chance.

Droitwich had struggled to make an impact with the ball before rain stopped play, with only Australian Josh Staines catching Nick Price (0) off Karl Goddard's delivery to make it 12-1.

Despite the wicket, Denny (57 not out) and Adam Hewlett (24 not out) had began to put Spa's opponents in a strong position.

Captain Steve Walsh said: "The game was at a crucial moment when the game was abandoned.

"Brockhampton had been playing quite well, but it could have gone either way."

Droitwich have two chances to find some form over the Bank Holiday Weekend.

On Saturday they take on fellow strugglers Chaddesley Corbett.

Walsh's side entertain newly promoted Alvechurch and Hopwood on Bank Holiday Monday (both matches 1.30pm start).
