BOTOX will be on offer at a new city centre clinic being opened by the founder of the controversial Desumo clinic which offers single measles, mumps and rubella vaccinations.

Debby Ryding, who set up the private Stanley Road clinic in Worcester in 2001 amid still unproven fears the combined MMR jab had links with autism and bowel problems, has just signed the paperwork for a property in St John's.

And as well as continuing to offer the single vaccines, The St John's Independent Health and Treatment Centre - which will be situated in the former St John's Clinic - will also offer children nutritional and allergy advice, counselling, and treatments for ADHD and autism.

And there is something for the adults too - a GP, Dr Tony Walker, is coming on board and as well as giving traditional diagnoses, he is also qualified to carry out botox and laser treatment. Botox injections - which smooth out facial wrinkles and lines - are beloved of celebrities such as former model Jerry Hall and singer Toyah Wilcox, who lives near Pershore.

"This is always the direction we wanted to go in after setting up Desumo," Mrs Ryding told the Worcester News.

"The clinic will not just focusing on the single vaccine - it will be everything you can get at the GP plus a bit more."

Debby is hoping the success of the Desumo clinic - which currently sees around 450 children at three clinics a month - will be repeated.

"We have around 12,000 patients on our books and a lot of them have expressed an interest in the new venture," she said.

"We are hoping to be up and running in October."

But Dr David Kirrage, consultant at the Worcestershire Health Protection Agency, said parents who choose single vaccines should realise that their children will need more jabs and be unprotected for a longer time by using single vaccines that may not be as effective as MMR.

"Can I encourage parents to talk to their GP or Health Visitor if they have any concerns," he added.
