TEENAGER Hannah Sparks demonstrated her cricket ability by taking a five-wicket haul in a senior men's match.

Hannah, aged 14, made light work of Chaddesley Corbett Seconds with figures of 5-23 in just three overs for Colwall Fourths in Crusader Worcestershire League Division Seven.

Hannah's achievement was even more remarkable given that she doesn't even like bowling and much prepares to face deliveries.

Her father, Paul Sparks, said: "I think she was quite surprised she got to bowl because she doesn't like bowling but she bowls quite straight so if they miss she gets them out."

Hannah, who plays for Worcestershire Under 15s and Under 17s, has grown up with the sport and was part of the Minehead Under 13s that finished runners-up in the West Somerset League before her family moved to Cradley.

A pupil at Ledbury's John Masefield School, Hannah is keen on many sports and currently plays hockey for Herefordshire.

Her father added: "I have always played cricket everywhere I have lived and she always came to cricket bat and ball in hand.

"She's just one of those who can pick up a lot of sports and do them. She's really modest about it all."

Colwall chairman Gary King said: "We set up the fourth team as a new team specifically to have a mixture of young and older players playing together in competitive league cricket and it's been a great success."
