TOWN Reserves welcomed Wednesbury to the Langland Stadium on Tuesday evening for the return leg of the league cup semi-final and, with the comfort of a 3-0 lead from the first leg, started in bright fashion.

MALVERN TOWN RESERVES 3,

WEDNESBURY TOWN 2

(Malvern won 6-2 on aggregate.)

Mike Roberts had a hand in the first goal as he overlapped on the right and crossed to Stuart Hill, who slipped his marker, firing home a powerful left-footed shot. The second goal came following a period of sustained pressure by the visitors. Goalie Adrian Whittall-Williams booted the ball up-field and as a defender made the mistake of letting the ball bounce, Chris Fellows nipped in and side-footed past the advancing keeper.

Ten minutes either side of half-time, Malvern gave away free-kicks 30 yards out and both fouls led to goals for Wednesbury. The first was created by Tom Jenkins feeding Tom Bush and the latter chipped Whittall-Williams for a well-taken goal. The second came as Phil Jones headed home at the far post.

With time running out, Malvern scored the best goal of the evening when Hill raced through and drew both the goalie and last defender towards him. He had the vision to square the ball across the box for man-of-the-match Fellows who made no mistake hammering home for a final score of 3-2.

The Reserves are due to meet Hinton in the league cup final at Ludlow Town FC possibly on Tuesday or Thursday evening.
