MALVERN Ladies FC travelled to Stourport Swifts FC to face Burlish Olympic in the Kidderminster Hospital Cup final, for the third year running.

MALVERN LADIES 3, BURLISH OLYMPIC LADIES 2 (AET)

Malvern started brightly and took the lead in the 11th minute when Emily Prosser latched onto a perfectly-timed through ball from Ella Buckle and slotted calmly passed the keeper.

Burlish hit back from the kick-off and threw everything at Malvern, looking for the equaliser. Some great tracking back on the wing by Nat Holmes helped the Malvern defence to stand firm and they were unlucky when Ella Buckle's effort was disallowed for offside.

Burlish continued to attack and got their rewards when Debbie Prescott got the equaliser in the 30th minute. Burlish scored again just before half-time from a corner that Malvern failed to clear.

Malvern started well in the second-half and had a lot of possession but failed to take advantage. Malvern stepped up a gear with five minutes to go and got the vital equaliser when Polly Bounds set Prosser free to score her 59th goal of the season to put the tie into extra-time.

Heavy rain made conditions very difficult for both sides but Malvern found the extra strength in midfield, where Stacie Doyle and skipper Tracey Evans dominated. Malvern continued to press and some great work from Sam Shail found Emily Prosser. She set Emma Hinchliffe free who buried her first-time shot.

Burlish pressed forward in the second-half of extra-time but some great saves from keeper Jenny Shail and some last-gasp defending from Helen Hammond, Heidi Barlow and Sharon Coxhead kept them out.

This victory finished off what has been a great season for Malvern.

Emily Prosser won the man-of-the- match award but it was a great team performance that clinched it in the end.

Malvern Ladies FC would like to thank First Floor Flooring and The Soccer Site for their continued support and to Malvern Town for the use of their facilities.
