FINAL arrangements are being made to a music event in Malvern this summer to ensure it hits the right note.

The Bands in the Park event is supported by Malvern Town Council and this summer's string of weekly concerts runs from Sunday, May 29 to Sunday, September 4.

The town council took on the event in 2001, after budget cuts by Malvern Hills District Council threatened its future and it has since been working to develop it.

And members of the town council's operations committee will be updated on arrangements for this year's event at a meeting on Tuesday, May 10.

At each concert two councillors will act as stewards and the operations' team will be responsible for setting up and testing equipment and chairs. The Chase High School Brass Band will open the season, with performances from a whole host of other groups on subsequent Sundays, including Malvern Hills District Brass Band and Forest of Dean Brass. Worcester Concert Brass and Tewksebury Town Band.

On Sunday, July 10, the Bell Inn Band will play and Boys' Brigade band will beat the retreat to commemorate the 60th anniversary of VE and VJ day.
