A £1.5m office development is being built by a Worcester property firm in the city.

Lansdowne Rodway Estates, which develops and manages property across Worcestershire, has started creating 'Block S' on the Blackpole East Trading Estate.

The 19-acre site, near the company's headquarters, is due to be finished in March, 2008 and will consist of two mirror-image two-storey un its. These will comprise a steel frame structure, atrium, second floor plant room, and curtain walling. Both buildings will be air conditioned. The land surrounding the development will be landscaped with decorative fountains and water features.

Lansdowne Rodway Estates has a range of modern, refurbished and older properties in the county, together with recently developed office space and commercial units.

In recent years, it has had 25,000sq ft of office and commercial premises built, with another 10,000sq ft due for completion this year.

The company puts its success down to the area's location in close proximity to the motorway network and the fact that it is on the Central Technology Belt, which runs from Aston University to Malvern.

Lansdowne now hopes this latest development will prove just as popular.

"We are confident the offices will be leased quickly and that the incoming businesses will be delighted with the standards of the finished buildings together with the versatile workspace provided," said a spokesman.

The construction work is being carried out by Warwickshire-based firm SOL West Midlands.

"We are pleased to be working with Lansdowne on this prestigious contract," said divisional director Terry Marsh.
