TEN members of the Under-12s section at Bredon RUFC helped the Buzzards to a repeat success at the annual Cirencester Sevens last Sunday.

Bredon won the Under-11 age-group 12 months ago and this season's Under-12s squad were keen to again bring the trophy back t the village.

With teams from Cirencester, Hucclecote, Stroud and Swindon taking part, the competition was high but captain Will Graulich, Luke Griffiths, Mike Price, Simon Harkness, Chris Saxby, Adam Clifford-Smith, Ed Davies, Scott Bunch, Ross Attwood and Paul Merchant were up for the task.

Davies opened the scoring in a 10-5 defeat of Cirencester that also saw Attwood cross the try line in the second half when Cirencester upped their game but could only halve the deficit.

On their last meeting at Hucclecote, Bredon lost by a narrow margin and another close game was expected in the smaller version.

And so it turned out despite Saxby and Harkness bagging first half tries.

Graulich had to retire and looked like he might not feature again on the day, but replacement Mike Price stepped in admirably although it was Hucclecote who were to find the try line to make the match all-square.

The Buzzards had now started to get the hang of the sevens game and ran in five tries against Stroud with just one in reply.

Saxby crossed first only for Stroud to hit back quickly but it was 15-5 at the interval after scores from Price and Merchant.

The former added a second after the restart when Harkness also crossed to earn the visitors a comfortable win.

Graulich returned to action against Swindon, but failed to get on the scoresheet in a convincing 30-0 win.

First half tries from Attwood, Adam Clifford-Smith, and Scott Bunch gave Bredon a comfortable lead and Price (2) and Clifford-Smith closed out the game.

Bredon and Hucclecote's list of impressive results meant that they met for a second time in the final play-off.

Tries from Price and Saxby again showed how well Bredon had adapted to the game and the latter crossed again t help his side claim a 20-5 victory.

Harkness completed a splendid day's efforts with his side's fourth try before a try for Hucclecote proved no more than a consolation.
