TRIPS to Stourport, Swindon and Sutton Coldfield will be a thing of the past if Evesham United defeat Bromsgrove Rovers in tomorrow's Southern League Division One West play-off final, writes Mervyn Collins.

The Robins will be hitting the road to places like Banbury, Bedford and Bath if they can clinch promotion with victory over a side they overcame twice during their 42-match league campaign.

A place in the Premier Division will also see the Common Roaders return to some of their old stamping grounds like Halesowen, Team Bath, Rugby United, Cirencester and Tiverton - clubs that have settled quickly into their loftier surroundings.

One club that Evesham won't be revisiting is Solihull Borough who finished up at the bottom of the pile after winning just ten of their 42 top flight outings.

It will be a bitter sweet moment for manager Dave Busst should his Evesham side move up the Pyramid and pass his former club coming the other way!

However, nothing will taken for granted in the United camp, fans only need to turn the clock back a few weeks and remember losses against Cinderford and Bedworth that cost automatic promotion to know that it's easy to come down to earth with a bump.

Bromsgrove, like the Robins, suffered an attack of the promotion jitters as the season drew to a close and they will look back on home draws with Sutton Coldfield and Swindon, an away draw at whipping boys Egham and defeat at Burnham as they battle to bring Premier Division football back to the Victoria Ground.

Manager Jimmy Mullen will be eager for revenge after seeing his side comfortably brushed aside at Common Road in January after Busst's men had won 3-1 on the road last October.

The visitors will doubtless bring hordes of supporters for tomorrow's derby decider but, having tasted glory against Ashford on Monday, Evesham's followers will be certainly be in no mood to be outshouted.

Victory will be the perfect ending to what has been a topsy-turvy climax to a memorable season and should ensure the champagne will be flowing later in the evening at the end of season presentation night at Evesham Marina.
