Badsey Rgrs U-15 5, Southside 2

RANGERS retained the League Cup at Whaddon Road last Sunday when they scored some of the best goals seen there this season.

Facing the team that had pipped them for the league title five days earlier, the Badsey lads took the game to their opponents only to allow them an early chance that was superbly saved by will Tyrrell.

Passing was easy on the superb surface and two goals in the space of five minutes from Mark Magee and Joe Smith's magnificent 25-yarder gave Rangers the upper hand.

Magee made it 3-0 after 24 minutes and an unstoppable strike from George Lavis left Badsey in dreamland just four minutes later.

Southside reduced the deficit before the break and an own goal from Ben Holland after the restart made it 4-2.

However, Badsey were in no mood to relinquish the lead and player of the match Magee completed his hat-trick to settle any nerves and put one hand on the trophy.

There was no way back for the league champions and it was Smith who lifted the trophy dedicated to the memory of Matthew Wyatt who tragically died during a junior match last December.

Evesham Utd U-11 9,

Swindon Villages Bowmen B 1

HAVING been denied the league title after a play-off despite finishing top, Evesham bounced back with a dazzling display in front of a large crowd at Cheltenham Town's Whaddon Road home.

Henry Woods opened the scoring after three minutes when converting Sam Ford's cross.

Louis Brown then hammered home a second from a close-range free-kick and Woods made it 3-0 after 15 minutes when capitalising on a defensive error.

Elliot Grady was the provider for the fourth a scored by Woods before Ford, who appeared to have the freedom of the wing, eluded the keeper with a tremendous strike from close to the touchline.

United's central defence of James Bearcroft, Bryn Tomes, Wes Burden were stopping everything that was thrown at them, while full backs James Coldrick and Colin Philpot cut out any danger from the flanks and supported their teammates going forward.

There was even better football after the break but fewer goals.

Woods fired home from the edge of the area for his fifth after yet another lethal cross from player of the match Ford.

A defensive lapse allowed the Bowmen to net a consolation, although Bearcroft's response was emphatic when he found the net from the edge of the box after a run from midfield.

Tom Evans made it nine when finding the net from 18 yards to send the 100-strong band of supporters back home happy up the A435.

The cup winners would like to thank sponsors Flynns of Cheltenham and AutoSleepers for their support during the season.

PLAYING at St George's Lane, Evesham soaked up early pressure from a newly strengthened City side before hitting them with a sucker punch as David Huggins banged in a low drive to give his side a half-time lead.

Evesham punished City on the counter attack after the restart when Lewis Dallard broke down the right wing to cross for the unmarked Josh Millar to tap in.

Dallard then made it 3-0 before Worcester pulled one back eight minutes from time. Goalkeeper Ben Parry in goal was in good form and made several good saves to help secure victory.

Badsey Rgrs U-10 2,

Cheltenham YMCA 0

There were no goals in a cagey opening period but Badsey were quickly out of the blocks and Nick Remfry reacted fastest to pen the scoring after a free-kick from player of the match James Schembri had been pushed on to the crossbar.

Rangers then spurned several openings before Sean Cook wrapped up victory five minutes from time.
