ANTIQUE dealers and collectors are being warned to be eagle-eyed following the theft of more than £3,000 worth of items from a Worcestershire home.

Five paintings, valued at £2,000, glass decanters in an antique tantalous display box valued at £1,000, and silver sauceboats were taken in the burglary at an address in Winchcombe Road, Sedgeberrow, south of Evesham.

Two cameras and a small amount of cash were also taken in the burglary, which was discovered soon after midday on Sunday.

South Worcestershire police have alerted antique dealers and collectors to keep an eye out for the items.

"It's very likely some of these items will find their way into the mainstream antique sales and dealers and buyers should contact the police if they're at all suspicious of what they see or are offered," said a police spokesman.

Police would also like to hear from anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the Winchcombe Road area of Sedgeberrow before, during or after the break-in.

Anyone with information can contact Evesham police on 08457 444888, quoting 280S/010505.
