USERS of a community centre are being given the chance to literally Make an Entrance by helping create a massive mosaic around the main doorway.

And the call has gone out from the Fairfield Community Centre on Fairfield Close, Brickfields, to businesses and the public to donate unwanted or broken tiles which can be used in the project.

The Neighbourhood Learning manager Lynne Roberts, said she planned to get every user to play a part in its construction, even by just sticking down a tile.

"This is a community event for everyone. We want something on the front of the building to brighten the place up," she said.

"People are going to be totally involved from the start.

"We're also asking local businesses interested in supporting us to let us have their unwanted tiles," she added.

She is urging users to come up with their own ideas for the mosaic, along the lines of what the centre means to them, and she predicts it could be a summer-long project.

Ms Roberts has secured the services of Mandy Farmer to lead the project. She is an experienced art tutor from the Worcester College of Technology's adult education centre.

Anyone who wants to lend their ideas and support for the Making an Entrance project is asked to go along to the centre on Wednesday, May 4, between 12.30pm and 2.30pm.
