EVESHAM Cricket Club are to be sponsored this season by Rilys of Evesham, the balti restaurant on Waterside, Evesham. And the club has received a double boost because Sportsmatch, the Government sponsorship body, has matched the £1,000 with a similatr grant.
The money will all go into the club's thriving youth scheme.
The sponsorship was announced at well-attended curry evening at Evesham Cricket Club.
Mr. Mujibur Rahman, general manager of Rilys, said: "This is the first time we've been involved in sports sponsorship but we want to help the community and we felt Evesham Cricket Club in particular deserved our support."
Club secretary Bob Shaw said: "Rilys Restaurant is popular with our players and supporters and Mr Rahman and his staff are keen cricket fans. This makes it a natural partnership."
