ELIZABETH DAVIES

Health Concern

Service to others has been one of the two keystones to my life (the first being my family).

This service has been in the health service from trainee nurse to hospital matron (the old- fashioned sort) over a span of 40 years.

This is my reason for joining Health Concern.

Additionally I have previously worked with the charity Breast Cancer Care as board member and chairman - also with Macmillan on quality assurance in the hospice world, and a Jewish charity caring for the elderly.

I am an executive member of the Worcestershire Federation of Women's Institutes.

Over the last five years I have served the people of Wyre Forest as town, district and county councillor. If re-elected I will continue to press for improvements in health care, education, roads and pavements, services for the elderly and more police on our streets.

RACHEL LEWIS

Liberal Party - Focus Save Our Hospital

As a mother with a young family, district councillor Rachel Lewis is a passionate believer in provision of children's services and easily accessible schools for our youngest children.

She is worried about the potentially dangerous traffic situation on Wolverley Road if Sion Hill Middle School is used as the Lower School of Wolverley High School for several years.

She says:

l Give local people a real say in the way in which local schools are run and sort out the chaos of the Tory school closures.

Continue the fight to get A and E and a birthing centre back to Kidderminster.

More police on the beat tackling crime, nuisance and drugs.

Fight off the threat of Government spending on "Supporting People" which is going to hit local elderly hardest.

A decent public transport concessionary fare scheme for the elderly.

Tackle the appalling state of roads and pavements, public transport and traffic flow problems.

CHRIS NICHOLLS

Labour

Chris is a dedicated, hard- working, all-year-round councillor who has represented Cookley for the past 14 years. During this time he has been chairman of both district and parish councils and is currently chairman of Wyre Forest council's housing, health and rural affairs scrutiny panel.

Chris has a strong interest in his local community and is chairman of governors at Cookley First School and a member of local charities.

Chris has a proven track record as a campaigner on issues which affect his constituents. He has led the local campaign to prevent large-scale development of Halfpenny Green Airport. He also fought to keep Wolverley High School open and was actively involved in the campaign to extend broadband to Wolverley and Cookley. Chris calls public meetings on important issues and holds regular monthly surgeries.

He would be honoured to use his wealth of experience to represent the residents of Wolverley, Wribbenhall and Cookley.

KATE SPOHRER

Green Party

Kate Spohrer has lived in the Wyre Forest area for almost 30 years. She previously taught in Stourport for seven years, and now works in local government in the West Midlands. She has always been interested in environmental issues, and tries to live in as environmentally-sensitive a way as possible.

She drives a Smart car, because she has to use a car for her job, but would rather do without if she could. She uses the power of the sun to heat her water in the summer.

Kate has opposed the expansion of airports in the region, such as the proposed expansion of Wolverhampton Airport, and the Government's £9billion a year subsidy to the aviation industry - the fastest-growing contributor to climate change.

And she believes that a Green voice on the county council would mean better public transport, better public services, and better support for local businesses.

GORDON

YARRANTON

Conservative

I recently retired from my heating engineering business and now have the time and commitment needed to represent you at County Hall.

Since being selected last September, I have spent considerable time meeting people in the division and I now have a greater understanding of the issues that concern them.

I have managed to get litter bins installed throughout the division. I have also pursuaded a local business to resurface a private road which serves approximately 60 homes.

Also, after listening to residents in Cookley regarding a pedestrian crossing, I have now received a letter from the county council saying that they will have talks with district and parish councillors and will carry out the work in 2005/2006, together with work on the pavements.

I am also dealing with the issue of speeding traffic along Franche Road in Wolverley and will continue to deal with all issues that are brought to my attention.

NIGEL ADDISON

Independent

The electors of Cookley, Wolverley and Wribbenhall deserve a voice at County Hall, someone who'll stand up and fight for local people, rather than be a political robot .

Our children are our future, and I will endeavour to ensure a smooth transition when the education review is implemented, fight for better safety on our roads, especially around schools, and fight for a greater share of county funding to be spent in our area. I have often spoken about the way we, in this area, are treated as the "poor relations" by the county.

I will be a strong voice for YOU, a good listener to find out what YOU want, and as an independent, will vote for what benefits YOU, not me or my party.
