PEOPLE in Stourport are being warned to be vigilant over the security of their sheds and garages following a spate of burglaries.

Four bicycles have been stolen in the raids, on Wednesday last week.

Police received a call from a resident of Trevithick Close at about 3am that day, with the caller reporting they had heard noises. It was later discovered that a neighbour's shed had been broken into.

The offenders might have been disturbed, as nothing was stolen. With neither shed secured, no damage was caused.

Overnight between Tuesday and Wednesday a garage in Prospect Road was broken into and two new mountain bikes stolen, one of which was recovered in Great Western Way.

Details of a further burglary emerged when a man's silver mountain bike and a grey woman's mountain bike were reported stolen from a shed in Great Western Way.

Stourport beat manager, PC Jon Harris, said: "Sheds and garages should be locked at all times and the keys kept in a safe place."

He also recommended owners security marked items such as cycles or valuable tools to deter burglars and help police return stolen property.
